Peter Pan Participation Pleaser

Neverland could never be better April 8 at the Cultural Centre

Released by Ann Goudswaard, CACC

un-filled and hilarious, the Dufflebag Theatre Company takes you on a merry journey into the enchanting world of Peter Pan, Sunday, April 8 at 2 pm and 4 pm on the Cultural Centre's main stage.

Part of The Chilliwack Arts & Cultural Centre Society's Kids' Series this classic tale by J. M. Barrie is wonderfully portrayed in an entertaining family friendly show. Revisit the magic and excitement of the familiar story we all know and love, and follow Peter, Wendy, John and Michael through the wonders of Never-Never Land, guided by Tinkerbell, only to come face-to-face with the despicable pirate, Captain Hook.

Full of wit and humour onlookers become enthralled with the story only to find there is a twist as audience members are invited on stage and drawn into the action, becoming part of the story. A hilarious experience for all ages this unpredictable performance is a truly unique theatrical experience.

"DuffleBag Theatre was a tremendous success with the audience-old and young alike. I was...astonished at the verve with which the audience IMMEDIATELY responded to the performers. From five year olds to grand-parents, they were busy finger shaking and shouting at Peter or growling with Captain Hook."

Whistler Community Arts Council, AB

A fun-filled hilarious production suitable for children ages 4 to 12, and all those young at heart, this production is interactive storytelling theatre at its best! Famous for their off the wall versions of classic fairytales and stories, with over 600 performances across the country each year, the DuffleBag Theatre's popularity stems from the fun improvisations, whatever the audience cast members do is incorporated into the show.

Since the whole audience participates during the show, the results are captivating, magical and fun for all. Adults enjoy the performances just as much as the kids!

Wowing audiences of all ages in theatres, festivals and schools across Canada, the U.S., and internationally, the Dufflebag Theatre Company takes the audience to a world where fairies, mermaids and pirates roam, and children refuse to grow up.

As one of Canada's most celebrated theatre companies for young audiences, this original adaptation of Peter Pan engages audience members in the action, creating a spontaneous and energizing theatre experience for everyone.

Performing with the same sense of fun, innovation, and participation that the audiences (nearly) the world over have come to expect, the DuffleBag Theatre troupe has 13 different shows they perform in their current repertoire.

With shows from fairy tales like Beauty and the Beast, Sleeping Beauty, Cinderella and Rumplestiltskin, to classic stories such as Robin Hood, Peter Pan, and Dracula the Duffle Bag Theatre puts on incredible shows that won't soon be forgotten. They also perform Shakespeare adaptations like Romeo & Juliet, MacBeth, and holiday-themed shows, such as Rudolph and A Christmas Carol.

When they first started, all their props and costumes for the show came out of a duffle bag but now with so many shows to choose from, they need more than a duffle bag to hold it all, somehow "Trunk Theatre" just doesn't have the same ring to it. All of the hilarious and refreshing fairy tale adaptations feature audience participation like you've never seen before.

The spontaneous invitation onto the stage to play main parts thrills the kids, while the audience helps spur them on with a chorus of prompts.

Everyone participates! The unpredictability of the performances are hilarious, a sure fire audience favourite. Dufflebag Theatre proves once again with Peter Pan that the dream of living a fairy tale actually does come true!
