Bozzini's Celebrates 30 Years

David Gogo with Harpoonist and the Axe Murderer bring the blues April 15

Released by Mano, Bozzini's Restaurant

avid is one of our favourites and Harpoonist & the Axe Murderer is one of the top rising blues rock bands in Canada. It's a rare treat to have such incredible artists on our "stage" on the same night.

David Gogo's latest album Soul Bender has earned him a nomination for Blues Album of the Year at the 2012 Juno Awards.

David Gogo is one of Canada's hardest working blues-rock guitarists, and he has a string of remarkable accomplishments to show for it. Gogo has garnered three Juno Nominations, the Saturday Night Blues' Great Canadian Blues Award for a lifetime contribution to the blues in Canada, WCMA Musician of the Year, and has twice been named Maple Blues Guitarist of the Year.                              David Gogo

Over the years, he has performed with blues and rock legends B.B. King, Bo Diddley, George Thorogood, ZZ Top, and numerous others - most recently touring with Johnny Winter on Canada's west coast. His eleventh release, Soul Bender, is adding even more acclaim to an already impressive list.

The Harpoonist and the Axe Murderer is more like a sweaty fling between a sack full of harmonicas, a mess of foot percussion, and a very greasy Telecaster. Shawn Hall and Matthew Rogers (who played in Tamara Nile's band at Bozzini's a couple of months back) say they're making blues for a changing world, but a fan put it even better: this is 'blues that gets you in the crotch.'

'The Harpoonist & the Axe Murderer add a fresh take to the roots music genre via contemporary lyrics and arrangements, but maintain traditional structures and emotion. A welcome addition to the Canadian blues and roots music scene.'

Holger Peterson, CBC Saturday Night Blues
