CES: Actively Creating an Exceptional Society, in association with Cinema Politica Fraser Valley, is screening the film Vanishing of the Bees for their upcoming Community Movie Night.

The event takes place on Friday, April 27th at Harrison Mills Community Hall (1995 School Road).

This documentary examines the alarming disappearance of honeybees and the phenomenon known as Colony Collapse Disorder which has brought beekeepers to crisis in an industry responsible for pollinating hundreds of fruits and vegetables. Commercial honeybee operations pollinate crops that make up one out of every three bites of food on our tables.

After years of research scientists continue to puzzle over the cause of the bees disappearance and conflicting ideas abound. A definitive answer has still not been found to this mystery.

While taking an investigative look at the economic, political and ecological implications of the worldwide vanishing of the honeybee the filmmakers also draw attention to the greater meaning of this tragic loss and what it says about the relationship between mankind and Mother Earth.

Showtime is at 7:00 pm with doors opening at 6:30. Admission and refreshments are by donation. Door prizes to follow the movie.
