Bands on the Beach

oin us in Harrison Hot Springs this Labour Day weekend for music and art. Last year’s highly successful Bands on the Beach event returns, expanding from one day to two and the Harrison Festival Society’s Harrison Craft Market will again take place at the Memorial Hall.

 

The Harrison Craft Market features handcrafted products from the finest artisans and takes place at the Harrison Memorial Hall Saturday, September 1 11:00am to 6:00pm and Sunday, September 2 11:00am to 5:00pm. Admission is free. 

 

A number of the vendors from this summer’s Harrison Festival Art Market will be returning for this Market.

  

Jewelry will be prominently featured including fused glass jewelry from Dragonflies Ceilidh, Steampunk jewelry from Sherjewels and Pink Gargoyle Designs and therapeutic magnetite jewelry by Gina Esche. Also attending the Market are Carla Swope, Wildfire Jewelry and Chikako Tsurusaki among others. 

 

Steve Choi of Choi’s Pottery will be returning with his popular line of Korean pottery. Also featured will be a variety of paintings and works of arts including folk art painting by Ilona Stoffer. 

 

Also popular at this Market are glass artists including etched glass from Dragon’s Treasures and glass art from Nazko Molton Works. 

 

There will be a variety of clothes for young and old as well as fashion accessories and a range of high quality herbal body care products will be available. 

 

On the culinary side Creighton Valley Apiaries will have their ever popular honey, “I Have Soup” will feature soup mixes as well as wire wrapped utensils and the Silver Creek Tea Company will feature an array of teas.  There will even be something for the birds; birdseed cakes and birdhouse gourds from “It’s for the Birds”.

 

In addition to the Harrison Craft Market the Harrison Beach will be rockin’ to the sounds of some of the best musicians in the Fraser Valley. Started last year as a 1 day event, Bands on the Beach was so successful that the Village has decided to make it a two day end of summer extravaganza.  

 

The lined up includes: Todd Richard, Kenny Hess, Trevor Murray-w/ Smith & Jones Band, Brent Lee, Ken McCOY Band, Vacationers and Ailsa Rose and The Show.


And for something different, local Sasquatch researchers, Bill Miller and Tom Steenburg will be set up in the Harrison Lake Plaza Saturday and Sunday afternoons. Learn about the scientific evidence that supports the existence of this elusive forest creature and get the latest news on sightings & encounters in our area and view factual evidence, cast footprints and photographs. 

 

Don’t miss the Harrison Craft Market, Saturday and Sunday, September 1 and 2 at the Memorial Hall; Saturday 11:00am to 6:00pm and Sunday 11:00am to 5:00pm.  Admission is free.
