Distracted driving may be the cause of 4-car accident

Chilliwack Mounties try to sort out what happened Thursday afternoon to cause this accident.


ush hour traffic was was just starting to build up around 3:30 p.m., Thursday afternoon, when somehow, 4 vehicles slammed into each other in the northbound lane of Yale Rd. just north of the Hocking Ave. intersection.


It is possible that this was the result of distracted driving. However, this has not been confirmed with police.


Two people were taken to hospital. One complaining of neck pains.


The overpass block between Hocking Ave. and Alexander Ave. is the most dangerous block to drive in Chilliwack.


According to ICBC, since 2009, there have been 133 vehicle crashes at Hocking Ave. and Yale Rd., with another 55 crashes from there to Alexander Ave. That's not including the pedestrian accidents. Stats aren't available on the ICBC Pedestrian Crash Map.
