Music fans watch The Dusty Aces perform at the Vedder River last week. Below, the Jason Guill Band kept the audience rapt.

hat a concept live music at the Vedder River. Tunes on the Trans Canada Trail. A nice big stage with top notch audio and lighting, and people to run it.

My grandpa, Ivor Hill, who fly-fished the Vedder a hundred years ago, would have cast his line and tapped his foot.

Rock the River is the brainchild of Jeff Bonner, owner of Tractorgrease Studio. He put together four events throughout August at the riverside venue.

In a previous story, I noted that if Party in the Park was The Beatles, then Rock the River is The Rolling Stones.

"More like The Who," quipped Bonner as he trotted across the grass toward the stage next to the parking lot.

Eventually, a modest-sized group of people spread out on the turf for the final event to hear local musicians including The Dusty Aces perform.

"I love this and will be back next year for sure," said one event-goer.
