Auto Body Shop Burns

Fire fighters get a big blaze under control.


n September 14, 2014 at approximately 2:46 p.m. the Chilliwack Fire Department was dispatched to a commercial structure fire located in the 44000 block of Yale Road West.


On arrival, fire crews saw grey and black smoke venting from the eaves and roof structure of a single-storey commercial automotive shop.


The fire was fought defensively, and at one time, 10 fire apparatus responded to this 2-alarm fire. While the building was extensively damaged, fire crews were able to save the office space and remove business machines and documents.


There no one in the structure at the time of the fire and no fire fighter injuries.


The cause of the fire is under investigation by fire department officials.
