Local CGA Honoured

Jansen rewarded with fellowship for exemplary service

hilliwack’s John Jansen, CPA, FCGA has been honoured with a fellowship by the Certified General Accountants Association of Canada. The fellowship (FCGA) designation is awarded to Certified General Accountants in recognition of exemplary service to the Association, the profession, or the community.


John Jansen, CPA, FCGA is the manager of special projects for the Chilliwack Economic Partners Corporation (CEPCO). Between 1995 and 2013, he served as CEPCO’s president, providing leadership and developing initiatives to encourage and facilitate economic development in the Chilliwack community. One of his many accomplishments with the CEPCO is the successful negotiation for the development of Rogers Foods, the largest food grain processor outside of Vancouver.


Jansen provided a leadership role in securing $35,000.000 in funding to enable a new Emergency and Ambulatory Care wing at the Chilliwack General Hospital and is currently serving as president of the Chilliwack Hospital and Health Care Foundation. As an active member of the business community, Jansen has also served as chair for the BC Milk Marketing Board, and the Fraser Valley Justice Committee. Jansen also provided a strong leadership role to establish the Canada Education Park in Chilliwack.

Prior to his tenure with CEPCO, Jansen had been involved with the municipal and provincial governments. He was the minister of finance and corporate relations, minister of international business and immigration, minister of health and minister responsible for seniors, parliamentary secretary for the provincial government during his elected terms. From 1983 to 1986, Jansen also served as mayor for the District of Chilliwack and chairman for the Regional District of Fraser Cheam.

Jansen received his CGA designation in 1971. In 1996, Jansen joined the Quarter Century Club, marking 25 years of active CGA membership. Jansen was also awarded the Golden Jubilee Medal.

Ell, CGA), Norman Grdina, CFE, CAFM, CPA, FCGA (Coquitlam – Morrow & Co.),  Jo-Ann Johnston, CPA, FCGA (Coquitlam – BCIT), Urmilla Mereigh, CPA, FCGA (North Vancouver – Vancouver Imaging), Pamela Skinner, CPA, FCGA (Vancouver – Certified General Accountants Association of BC), and Paul Walker, CPA, FCGA (Langley – EPR Canada Group Inc.).
