A man sits in the back of a police cruiser after being seen with a knife downtown Tuesday morning. Below, an officer puts the weapon in the back of the cruiser.

olice received a report just before 11 AM that a man was wandering downtown allegedly waving a sword around.

Mounties caught up with the man on First Ave. near Yale Rd and effected an arrest. The weapon turned out to be a knife.

Police deal with many calls every day regarding people with mental health issues who are at risk of injuring themselves or others.

In all the cases, the person is detained or otherwise arrested, taken to jail and then later released back into the community.

It's not known if that is the case here with this man who was obviously having some kind of issue in the back seat of the police cruiser.
