Court Orders Tent Tear-down

Shelters full, leaving 20 with nowhere to go

y 6pm on Thursday, November 24th, all tent city residents of 58 W Hastings have been ordered to evacuate the site.

 

Almost 20 people are currently staying at the site and they have nowhere to go when the tent city is dismantled. Only one person has been offered housing and all the shelters are full, including the winter shelters which opened last week.

 

On the same day, November 24th, the City has also ordered homeless people to evacuate Wendy Poole park. Tomorrow Alliance against Displacement is organizing a rally against the City’s court injunction to dismantle the tent city at 58 W Hastings, and against the everyday harassment of criminalization of homeless people in the City of Vancouver.
