Ryder Lake Rub

Clean as Glean

Special blueberry plant sale

Peter Whitlock, RLFI

or new residents of Ryder Lake - I am a director of Valley Permaculture Guide and run their back yard gleaning program for local charities. Last year we gleaned over 10,000 lbs of backyard fruit which would otherwise have gone to waste.

Below is a different type of glean if anyone in Ryder Lake is looking for great blueberries plants:

BLUEBERRY PLANT GLEAN - 7697 LICKMAN RD, Tuesday Nov.22,2016 10AM - 2PM

The Local Harvest is clearing out .7 acres or about 250 blueberry bushes to make way for the new roundabout the City is going to build next year. They have offered these bushes to Valley Permaculture - donating half of all revenue raised to VPG. There are several options for gleaners:

1. Dig your own plants - $5 each
2. Dig four plants for others and get one free
3. Purchase already potted plant $10

Any unsold plants will be wintered over and will be sold at a plant sale in 2017.

There is dripline watering system to remove as we dig - these will be available to gleaners to take home at no cost if you can use them.

We will provide 2 & 5 gallon pots but bring some if you have extra. Bring a shovel and wear appropriate gear as fields will be muddy. We are not doing this in the rain so watch your email in the morning. If we cancel we will try to give more than one hour's notice.

If we do not finish on Tuesday there will be another Glean Thursday Nov. 24 10am to 2pm
