CIVL opens online events calendar

Aaron Levy, CIVL Radio 101.7FM

IVL 101.7 FM, the community-based campus radio station at University of the Fraser Valley in Abbotsford, is proud to unveil the Fraser Valley Events Calendar, found at!

The calendar features community and arts focused events of all types, for all demographics, and is free for promotion of any non-profit, charitable, or local arts and music based events! People and organizations looking to promote their events on the calendar, can email here with all of the necessary information (Date, Time, Location, Contact info, Title, Brief Description), and CIVL's Program Manager, a co-op position operating in conjunction with UFV's Career Centre, will administer the schedule!

Visitors to can view a monthly calendar to get a picture of what events are coming up in and around the Valley, or use the chronological list option to see what's coming up day to day! When looking at the calendar in an up to date web browser, simply hover your mouse over the event title you want to know more about, and an excerpt of pertinent details will pop up!

CIVL on air programmers already read event listings live on air, and play pre-recorded promo messages for events submitted here,  and now you can access a full listing of events from all over the Fraser Valley any time, with the quick click of a mouse!

"CIVL has hosted over 100 live events of different content since launching on FM nearly 6 years ago. Our events range from punk, folk, and pop/rock music, to Punjabi poetry readings, other speaker events, and even a Drive-In Movie as part of our 2013 fundraising drive," says CIVL Station Manager Aaron Levy. "Now we hope to not only be a source for cultural and arts events production and coordination in Abbotsford, Mission and Chilliwack, but also to help people connect as easily as possible to events that make our community more vibrant every single day. It's important to be able to offer a platform to connect people from the entire Valley between Surrey and Port Coquitlam to Hope, because it's a big area that over a million people reside in, and they need to know what's happening in their backyards!"

The schedule is currently populated with events for nearly every date in the next month and a half, and will be updated weekly by CIVL staff.

Email here now to find out more, or to include your event in our calendar! Space on the calendar will be filled on a first come first serve basis, so while there is no limit of events that may be listed for any given day, submissions will be moderated in order to keep the calendar readable. The more succinct your event synopsis, the better!
