Buyers formed a circle around the auctioneer at the annual CRJYAA bicycle auction last week. Below, firefighter Peter Devette ran the auction.
hilliwack Restorative Justice & Youth Advocacy Association hosted their Spring Bike Auction at Bernard Elementary School on Saturday May 14.
We were fortunate to have sunny skies and a great turnout for the auction. With the support of the community we were able to raise over $5,100.00 for our programs!!
We would like to thank everyone for coming out to the auction as well as Bernard Elementary School for providing the location for the fundraiser. Thanks to the City of Chilliwack and the RCMP for supporting the fundraiser and making it possible.
The proceeds we received from the bottle drive at the Auction have been donated to aid the Fort McMurray fire relief.
Program Director Leanna Kemp commented “We had a fantastic turnout and had many of our great volunteers attend and help out. We can’t have our fundraisers or run our programs without the hard work of our volunteers. We would also like to extend a huge thank you to Peter Devette who has been instrumental in organizing the fundraiser for many years.”
Proceeds from the auction will support all programs offered by Chilliwack Restorative Justice & Youth Advocacy Association. The organization recently launched two new prevention programs in partnership with School District 33 and all funds received will help grow and develop these programs. The new programs are R.E.A.C.H. - an alternative to suspension and Talking Circles - dialogue and activities around underlying issues relating to crime and conflict.
