A Freak Accident

Teen pedestrians injured after scissor lift falls over on Yale Rd.

A Chilliwack RCMP officer kept traffic moving after a scissor lift fell injuring two girls on Thursday.


t around 3:30 p.m. on Thursday, two teen girls were walking on the north side of Yale Rd. when a scissor lift suddenly tipped over and fell on them.


According to a person at the scene, one of the victims suffered a gash to the head. Both were transported to hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.


RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Len vanNieuwenhuizen confirmed on Friday that WorkSafe BC will be investigating the accident.


The lift had a large banner attached to it and it was windy at the time. It's not known if the wind, banner or if an improperly parked machine were factors in the accident.
