Always on Time, But... 

Loomis courier van stolen and recovered by RCMP

A courier driver speaks with police after the cube van he was driving was located outside of Minter Gardens in Rosedale on Wednesday.

 

tudents from Rosedale Traditional Middle School were just being let out Wednesday when a Loomis courier pulled into the parking lot for what was supposed to be just a routine delivery.

 

While the driver was inside the school, a male suspect climbed into the yellow cube van, and with the keys still in the ignition, started it up and took off eastbound on Yale Rd.

Chilliwack RCMP immediately fanned out and began an extensive search for the vehicle in an area bordered by Highway 9, the Trans-Canada Highway and Old Yale Rd.

A short time later, an eagle-eyed Mountie spotted it parked and running off of Llanberis Way at the entrance to Minter Gardens in Rosedale.

Police were then were able to set up a perimeter and bring in K9 units to search the area for the suspect.

On Thursday, RCMP spokesperson Cpl Len vanNieuwenhuizen told the Voice that the suspect had not yet been located.

"We are awaiting the results of a forensic identification examination to gather leads," he said adding "No parcels were missing."

Police are looking for a heavy-set male with dark hair and light-coloured clothing.
