Teacher Strike Edges Closer
Chilliwack school district asks parents to keep kids home May 29

regret to inform you that the BCTF, the union representing teachers, has
informed the school district that they will be engaged in rotating strikes
and will be withdrawing teaching services in Chilliwack on Thursday, May 29,
As a result of the strike action, teachers will not be reporting for duty.
During that time schools and other locations will be picketed. We expect
that all union personnel in our schools will be directed by their unions not
to cross the picket lines.
While schools will continue to be open under the supervision of district
administration, there will be no instruction or appropriate supervision
during this person of job action. For safety reasons we ask that parents
keep all children home from classes on Thursday, May 29. We anticipate that
CUPE staff will honour the teachers' picket line and that busses will not
