stretching! Coach, Sherry Hunt, took this photo from the drummer's
that time of the year already. The ladies of the Spirit Abreast Dragon
Boating Team are dusting off their paddles and getting ready for another
awesome year on the water. But first things first, and that means a cool
little Meet and Greet at Decades Coffee.
Aside from socializing and re-connecting with old friends, Sherry Dunn,
Community Involvement for Spirit Abreast, says they're looking for new faces
at the get-together.
"We are a team of breast cancer survivors and supporters who are seeking
paddlers and volunteers for the 2015 Season," she said in an email to The
Voice on Sunday. "We want to encourage women from the Upper Fraser
Valley to come out and bring a friend to our social season opener."
Beating everything in sight on the water in one of the team's goals, another
noble one is being out in the community interacting on educating and
prevention strategies for better health and a cancer-free future.
is a wonderful support system for cancer patients and their families as well
as a great way to rehabilitate after surgery and lower risks for
reoccurrence of cancer," said Dunn. "The team paddles out of Cultus Lake and
being out in nature is great for mental and physical health as well."
