New Board President Rides in on Wave

Heppner promises to offer more courses

Released by Jake Siemens, CADREB

renewed confidence in the local real estate scene greets the Chilliwack and District Real Estate Board’s (CADREB) newly elected President.

Travis Heppner from Royal Wheeler Cheam Realty takes over the reins from outgoing President Jake Siemens, and he looks forward to his new challenge in the city he grew up in.

“I was born and raised in Chilliwack, and after some time in the cruise ship industry and in Vancouver, we moved to Chilliwack as it’s a great place to raise kids and pursue a career in real estate.

Chilliwack and District has experienced a stable real estate market even through some tough economic global conditions, and is poised for a number of prosperous years ahead. “

Mr. Heppner added that one very promising indicator is the return of investor confidence.

“We are seeing developers buying property again, and construction starting on properties which have sat idle for a time. This is very encouraging”.

An immediate goal of the newly elected CADREB President is bringing in increased course offerings for REALTORS®, particularly in the area of personal and professional fiscal management.

Meanwhile, home sales continue to outpace last year’s level, both on a monthly basis and an annual average. Sales last month totaled 164, up slightly from February of 2014, which posted 156 sales.

On an annual basis, home sales are up 6%, and year-over-year, house prices for single family resale homes in Sardis are up 10%, and 11.9% in Chilliwack.

Inventory continues to lag behind last year’s numbers – at the end of February there were 1,369 active listings, down by more than 100 at the same time last year. If you are thinking of selling your home, the timing couldn’t be better!
