Strahl taking 18 to Ottawa contest offering

By Robert Pearsall, PA to MP Mark Strahl

ark Strahl, MP for Chilliwack-Fraser Canyon is inviting constituents to take on the Canada Day Challenge 2015.

The Canada Day Challenge is an annual contest that invites Canadians from 8 to 18 years old to unleash their creativity and show their pride in being Canadian by presenting an entry in one or more of the three following categories:

• Draw it! – present a poster, drawing or painting
• Snap it! – present an original digital photo
• Write it! – present a short story, poem or essay

This year’s theme is “Strong. Proud. Free.

“I would encourage every student with a love of Canada and a creative talent to take advantage of this wonderful opportunity to win a chance to celebrate Canada Day in our nation’s capital,” said Strahl.

This year, nine finalists will receive an all-expenses-paid trip to Ottawa for two (the finalist and a parent or a legal guardian) to participate in Canada Day celebrations on Parliament Hill and visit museums, art galleries and the famous Parliament buildings.

In addition, the nine finalists will have the opportunity of working with a team from the National Film Board of Canada who will guide them in the production of an individual short feature about their adventure in the National Capital.

The deadline to take on the Canada Day Challenge is March 20, 2015. For more information about the contest, visit www.pch.gc.ca.
