Staff/Voice photos

hese days, you can never be too sure when it comes strange packages left on buses or airports.

But early Monday afternoon, police and fire were called to the 45000-block of Patton Ave. to retrieve something on the roof of a one-storey building.

A Chilliwack officer winces as she examines a strange parcel of clothing found on a roof.

Firefighters laddered up to the roof and tossed down a day pack with clothes in it.

The officer checked the bundle before putting it in the trunk of a cruiser.

It's possible the clothes were used in a crime or robbery and then tossed up on the roof afterward out of reach of a police dog's nose.

Here's some tips from the federal government on what to do if you find a suspicious package, or have one delivered.
