Jillian Armit is a familiar face at the annual Alzheimer's Society of BC Walk for Memories in January.
n March 25, members of the Soroptimist Club of Chilliwack surprised Jillian Armit with the 2014 Woman of the Year.
Armit is a worthy recipient of the Woman of the Year Award. She is an inspired worker of the Alzheimer’s Society of British Columbia. Jillian has worked tirelessly to help anyone affected by Alzheimer’s disease through the most difficult time in their lives.
Jillian has also coordinated workshops and supported volunteers at various locations in the community. Jillian’s name is well known in any of these circles as the ‘go to’ person for information.
There will be more details about Jillian’s contributions in the coming weeks.
“We were very impressed with the inspired work of Jillian Armit and congratulate her for being selected as the 2014 Woman of the Year” said Anita Rogers, President of Soroptimist International of Chilliwack in a release on Tuesday. “Our judges have selected a very worthy winner”.
Soroptimist International of Chilliwack is proud to announce that the winners of the 2014 Women’s Opportunity Award and Violet Richardson Award have been chosen.
The Women’s Opportunity Award program assists women who provide the primary source of financial support for their families by giving them the resources they need to improve their education, skills and employment prospects and create a better standard of living for themselves and their family.
This year, we are fortunate to honor one woman with a $2,500 award and two women with a $1,000 award each.
We have also selected the winner of the Violet Richardson Award.
The Soroptimist Violet Richardson Award is a recognition program for young women ages 14-17 engaged in volunteer action within their communities or schools. The award is given to young women whose activities make the community and world a better place. The cash award is given in two parts; half to the recipient’s charity of choice and the other half to the recipient herself
Special thanks are offered to our panel of judges for all three awards:
