Natasha Cox, director Fraser Valley Watersheds Coalition describes riparian work done around the Hope Slough trails to Chilliwack City council Tuesday.

he Fraser Valley Watersheds Coalition is a registered charity and not-for-profit organization working to promote “Healthy Watersheds and Healthy Communities.”

Along with key partners Department of Fisheries and Oceans, Fraser Valley Regional District, Pacific Salmon Foundation and many other community supporters, efforts to enhance and restore off-channel salmon habitat along the south side of the Vedder River have been started and are planned for the next few years.

In addition to enhancing this habitat, it was recognized that this area is unique, and has the potential to be an incredible interactive place where wildlife, fish, recreation, leisure, sustainability and conservation values unite.

For this reason we are partnering with the City of Chilliwack and Chilliwack Rotary Club to develop interpretive trails along the waterways and preserve the restored habitat values

You are invited to get muddy and help us plant some trees! On Saturday, March 29th 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and Friday, April 25th, we will host community planting events!

If you would like to join us in planting native trees and shrubs in this area, please email here.
