oday, a M7.0 quake struck off the coast of Chile. Some areas were reported to be in evacuation mode over tsunami fears.
Luckily, BC hasn't seen any earth movement since a M4.1 off of Port Hardy February 15th. When there's a disaster, such as an earthquake, we need shortwave communication to call the outside world for help.
Chilliwack Amateur Radio Club (ARC) has helped over 200 people get their ham radio operators licence.
Steve Hill, president ARC, told the Voice in an e-mail Saturday, the club is holding a raffle for 4 Sniperz Paintball rentals, including; walk-on passes, gun, mask and 200 paintballs.
"We have gotten amazing donations from Sniperz and will be raffling them off," wrote Hill.
The draw takes place April 1st. Tickets are $1each or 5 for $3.
