Winner's head to Regina for the Tim Hortons Brier

The men's Road to Regina starting early 2018 in Penticton.


he road to the Brier will go via the beach in 2018. The belairdirect BC Menís Curling Championship will take place at Parksville Curling Club from January 30 to February 4.


The championship will decide the BC team that will go on to compete at the 2018 Tim Hortons Brier in Regina March 3-11. 

It is anticipated that a total of four games from the event will be televised on Shaw TV.

Terry Miller, chair of the host committee from Parksville Curling Club, said he was looking forward to hosting the best male curlers in BC. He said: ďWe are proud to be hosting this premier event in 2018.  Our large number of dedicated volunteers again look forward to hosting the best male curlers in the province.  Our organizing committee is already well underway in the event planning.  Good luck to the teams who will be participating in playdowns during the season leading to this championship." 

Curl BC CEO Scott Braley said: ďThe wonderful volunteers at Parksville Curling Club have done a tremendous job of hosting Curl BC events in the past and we know they will make this event a success too. The club is also in a great location alongside one of the most scenic stretches of ocean on Vancouver Island, so curling fans will really enjoy their stay.Ē

The title sponsor of the event will once again be belairdirect.

The event will feature 12 menís teams fighting for the opportunity to represent British Columbia at the Tim Hortons Brier. The 12 teams will play a modified triple knockout with a four-team page playoff.

The event will feature the defending championship team, Team Morris (Kelowna/Vernon), as well as the top two menís teams from BC with the highest rankings on the Canadian Team Ranking System (CTRS) list. The other nine teams will qualify through one of five open events taking place across the province.
