Integrated Personnel Support Centre in
Chilliwack but no VA
ast week The Voice contacted Veteran's Affairs to ask if Chilliwack
was going to get an office. The answer was no. For months now they've been
opening offices across the country. In BC, there's one in Prince George. Two
days ago a Surrey office was opened. The closest VA office is in Surrey.
Affairs response Wednesday was as follows:
Veterans Affairs Canada is
committed to providing Veterans with excellent service, regardless of where
they live in Canada.
Currently there are no plans
to open additional offices, however, we continue to monitor this need by
analysis of Veteran demographics in every area across the country. Veterans
Affairs Canada continuously monitors how services and benefits are offered
to Veterans and their families.
To better support Veterans and their families where they live, offices in
Corner Brook, Brandon, Sydney, Kelowna, Saskatoon, Charlottetown, Thunder
Bay, Windsor and Prince George have been reopened. A new office in Surrey,
B.C. opened on May 31, 2017 and VAC has expanded outreach to Veterans and
their families in the territories and other northern communities. In
addition to this initiative, Veterans Affairs Canada has hired more than 420
staff to ensure Veterans and their families are getting the support they
As of May 30th, 2017, there were 1,391 Veteran clients of VAC in the
Chilliwack area (Postal Codes V2R & V2P) in BC. They may access services at
the new office in Surrey that is approximately 81 km from Chilliwack.
Veterans Affairs Canada and the Department of National Defence work together
through the IPSCs to help Canadian Armed Forces personnel (Regular and
Reserve), Veterans and their families. Our goal is to ensure your needs are
met. The core services and partner organizations include:
• Return to Duty coordination
• Transition Planning Assistance
• Casualty Tracking
• Leadership and supervision
• Advocacy Services
• Designated Asst disengagement/support to families
The Integrated Personnel
Support Centres (IPSC) Vancouver-Satellite Chilliwack office is located at
5535 Korea Rd, Chilliwack, BC.
A partnership has also been forged with Service Canada, which has given
Veterans across Canada approximately 560 points of service across the
country where they can get in-person service. New Operational Stress Injury
(OSI) clinics and Integrated Personnel Support Centres have also been opened
across the country, giving Canadian Armed Forces personnel and Veterans
greater access to mental health support and other key services. With these
two initiatives and Veterans Affairs Canada Offices, Veterans can access
more than 640 points of service across the country. The Chilliwack Service
Canada Centre is located at 100 - 9345, Main Street, Chilliwack, BC.
Regardless of where Veterans live, they can continue to rely on home visits
from registered nurses and their Veterans Affairs Canada case managers for
those who require them. Veterans can also receive assistance directly from
