Driver lucky to survive accident

he deadliest kind of accident are the ditch ones. Emergency responders never know what they're going to get when a car goes into a ditch because the vehicle always rolls into the water.

On Tuesday, this is what happened on Prairie Central and by complete fluke the car landed partially on the opposite bank. Apparently, the driver didn't go under the surface and managed to scramble out. He was later taken to hospital with unknown injuries.

Firefighters set down absorbent material to gather any gas and oil that may have been coming from the overturned vehicle. So there's always the environmental impact of some sort for crews to contend with.

Fire officials called in the City crews to assess the impact on the waterway.
