Staff/Voice photos

ity of Chilliwack firefighters responded to a call of leaking farm sprayer on the approach to the Lickman Rd. overpass shortly after 11 Saturday.

Reports are the trailer overturned and leaked.

There were no injuries or other vehicles involved in the incident. The owner of the unit showed up afterward. Firefighters coned off the area. Traffic was light at the time and not affected.

The Incident Commander told the Voice on the scene, the tractor driver indicated the tank contained fertilizer.

However, when we showed photos of the trailer setup to a local farm worker, he noted that the trailer was set up for herbicide.

According to our source, a chain and hook at the back of the unit was was hanging down and wrapped around the apparatus indicating it was set-up for chemical spraying. He said if it was being used for fertilizer, then the chain would not be in that position and would actually be hooked on up above.

Fire crews used absorbent material to soak up the spill.
