he Cultus Lake Park Board is committed to serving our community.  Sometimes, this means making difficult decisions.  After an in-depth review and thoughtful consideration, the Board has concluded that it is in the best interest of the Cultus Lake community to sell the Vedder River Campground.

The sale is being undertaken with a view to the long-term benefits, which include supporting fiscal stability and efficient service provision, two elements that our residents have told us are of key importance to them.

This decision was not made lightly.  The Cultus Lake Park Board wants to concentrate its strategic priorities within the Park, and the Vedder River Campground is outside its boundaries.  The Board wants staff to focus its attention on the Park and on the Sunnyside Campground and its future expansion.

It is our goal to make the transition of ownership of the Vedder River Campground as seamless as possible. This includes the continued use of the Vedder River Campground for seasonal campers.

To date, Park Board staff have been working with the Ministry of Forests, Lands and Natural Resource Operations’ staff to complete the negotiations on the Licence of Occupation agreement and are working on what will need to be done to effectively transfer the operation.

The plans currently in place are to:

• Advise the public and seasonal campers of our intention to sell the Vedder River Campground; and
• Hire a real estate agent to initiate a bid process to sell the assets and infrastructure and transfer the Licence of Occupation to a new operator.

We realize that change can be difficult. It is our hope that the campground will continue to be a place for people to visit and experience nature, spend quality time with family and friends, and sit back and relax.

We will continue to provide updates as information becomes available.
