of the Chilliwack Libraries will be holding their annual Jigsaw Puzzle
Sale on February 5th and February 6th.
Puzzle donations are needed! If you have new or used puzzles (for
children or adults), take them to the library during regular open hours
in January-we'll add them to the sale! Each puzzle you donate entitles
you to purchase another one for 50% off at the sale. Please note that
you can only use 2015 coupons for this discount. For more information

Library Coloring Club
Chilliwack Library: Saturdays, Jan 2 - Apr 30, 10:30-12:00
No need to stay inside the lines at the Chilliwack Library Coloring
Club! Come to the Chilliwack Library Saturdays at 10:30-12 to color the
stress away! Meet with other coloring enthusiasts in town to share this
great hobby and compare your artwork! Supplies will be provided-
including coloring pages from some popular adult coloring books (but
feel free to bring your own coloring projects).

Using her unique "fabric burning technique, Sylvie Roussel-Janssens will
create a suspended window piece with some public participation. Library
users are invited to observe the creative process during four sessions
at the Chilliwack branch of the FVRL, write a few words about their love
of reading and make their mark on the textile artwork. Come and meet
Sylvie and get involved on Thursdays in January in the lobby of the
Chilliwack branch from 10am to 2pm.

Join the Friends of the Chilliwack Library on the first Wednesday of
every month. This volunteer organization supports the library through
advocacy, fundraising and assistance with various projects and programs.
The Puzzle Sale, the Pet Parade and Quiz Night are all successful
Friends initiatives. New friends are always welcome!

All teenagers in Chilliwack are invited to join the Chilliwack Libraries
TAG. Help organize, run and promote teen library programs. Act as
library ambassadors. Discuss and review music, books, movies and
websites. Eat snacks and have fun. Volunteer hours are granted for all
TAG activities and often qualify as part of a student's graduation
portfolio. Pick up an application form at one of the Chilliwack
Teen Writers Group Meet-up

Teen Winter Writing Contest
Chilliwack Library: January 4 to February 29, 2016
Teens in grades 8-12 with a valid Fraser Valley Regional Library card.
Contest runs January 4 to February 29, 2016
Each short story must be an original work by the submitting author.
Entrants must be in grades 7-12 with a valid Fraser Valley Regional
Library card in their own name. Entrants can enter a maximum of one
short story. The short stories must be no longer than 1500 words and
creatively integrate four thematic words. These words are bleak,
blighted, comforting and congenial. Short stories will not be critiqued
or returned so please keep a copy. By entering this contest, you
acknowledge that Fraser Valley Regional Library has permission to use
your story in print or online if you are the winner.
How to Enter
Please type or neatly write your submissions and drop them off at the
Chilliwack Library information desk. Submissions must include your name,
grade, email, phone number and library card number. This information is
for the purposes of contacting the author, and contact information will
only be kept for the duration of the contest.
Winners will be selected from two age categories: Younger Teens (grades
7-9) and Older Teens (grades 10-12). Each winner will receive a $50 gift
certificate from Cottonwood Mall.

Mental Silence Meditation

stress and has a profound balancing effect on our physical, mental and
emotional lives, enhancing both resilience and total well being. It is

Library Genealogy Group
Sardis Library: Thursday January 21st, 10:30am-12:00pm
Would you like to improve your skills using genealogy software such as
Ancestry Library Edition? Share ideas, learn new tips and tricks, solve
research roadblocks, and learn the history of the area and era you are
researching. The Sardis Library Genealogy Group welcomes new members.
Bring your laptop, or use the computers at the library to connect to
Ancestry Library Edition after the meeting. Facilitated by Marlene
Dance, UFV ElderCollege Instructor, and assisted by Katie England.

member and World Champion medalist. Ricky will share his extensive
