Explosions Rock Neighbourhood

CFD investigates suspicious early morning parkade fire

n January 15th 2016, at approximately 2:00am, the Chilliwack Fire Department was dispatched to a reported structure fire located in the 45000-block of McIntosh Drive. On arrival, fire crews reported seeing heavy black smoke from the parkade of a 3-storey multi-tenant residential apartment.

 

Firefighters responded from Halls 1 and 4. Once crews gained access to the parkade, they were able to quickly suppress the fire with damage limited to two vehicles. The building sustained smoke damage to the parkade structure and to the exterior siding on the south side. 

 

There were no civilian or fire fighter injuries. All residents evacuated the building safely and were able to return back later in the morning.

 

This fire is under investigation by Chilliwack Fire Department and RCMP.
