Puzzle sale, Lego and Essence of Elvis

alling all jigsaw puzzle aficionados, amateurs and addicts alike! The Friends of the Chilliwack Libraries will be holding their annual Jigsaw Puzzle Sale on February 6th and February 7th.


Puzzle donations are needed! If you have new or used puzzles (for children or adults), take them to the library during regular open hours in January-we'll add them to the sale! Each puzzle you donate entitles you to purchase another one for 50% off at the sale. Please note that you can only use 2015 coupons for this discount.

Mental Silence Meditation
Sardis Library: Mondays, Jan 5th - April 27th, 7:00-8:00pm
Mental silence is the experience of inner silence which brings a peaceful and clearer awareness. It is easy to learn, and with the guidance of Sergiy Fadyeyev, can generate significant results quickly. Mental Silence can reduce stress and have a profound balancing effect on physical, mental and emotional dimensions of the students, enhancing both resilience and total well being.

Teen Advisory Group

Are you a teen? Join the Chilliwack Libraries Teen Advisory Group (TAG). Be a library ambassador and help organize, run and promote teen library programs. There is lots of snacks and fun to be had. Volunteer hours are granted for all TAG activities. Apply at any of the Chilliwack Libraries, new members welcome!

Quilting Group
Sardis Library, Wednesdays, Jan 7th - Apr 29th, 10:00am-4:30pm
Bring your quilting projects, sewing machine and hand work and join the Sardis Library Quilting Group for a day of quilting in the comforts of the library. This group meets weekly to quilt and socialize. Please note that this is a non-instructional drop-in group. Space is limited so please bring hand work in case the tables are occupied. Don't forget to bring your lunch and coffee mug!

Stitch Together

Bring your projects or kits and head to the library to join our new needlework group! Regardless of your level, we invite you to come together and share your love of needle arts with other needlework enthusiasts. Whether you love cross-stitch, embroidery or other types of needle art, come work on your project with others who share the same passion. Bring your projects, additional lighting, and your enthusiasm.

Financial Literacy Workshop Series

The Chilliwack Libraries, in partnership with Chilliwack Community Services, is hosting free workshops to help you increase your knowledge of basic financial matters. Topics covered include: setting financial goals, budgeting, saving, banking, credit, insurance, taxes, and wills. Call the library to find out what each session's topic will be.

Service Canada Youth Program

Join a Citizens Services Specialist from Service Canada to discover the many federal programs available for youth, ages 15-30. You will hear about the Federal Student Work Experience program, Canada Student loans and grants, Apprenticeship Incentive and Completion Grants, and the new Canada Apprenticeship Loan.

eReader Workshops
Yarrow Library, Wednesday, Feb 11th, 1:30pm-4:30pm
Learn how to borrow free eBooks from the library through FVRL's digital databases such as Overdrive, One Click Digital and 3M Cloud. Bibliocommons' new integration will also be discussed.

1:30 pm - 2:50 pm: Dedicated eReaders with home computer or laptop.
3 pm - 4:20 pm: Wireless eReaders and/or devices and tablets to read eBooks.

Denis Leclerc, Fiddler and Storyteller
Yarrow Library, Thursday, Feb 12th, 10:30am-11:30am
Fiddler and storyteller Denis Leclerc will tell folk tales from his French Canadian culture and share the origins of some uniquely Canadian tales.Throughout the performance, Denis will play his old fiddle to set the mood.

Senior Sing Along

Remember those wonderful songs from your youth? Music Therapist Karin Roberts will lead you through a nostalgic sing-a-long.

Valentine's Day Social featuring: The Essence of Elvis

Celebrate Valentine's day and enjoy a selection of classic love songs from "The King", performed by award winning Elvis Tribute Artist and local RCMP member Jeff Bodner. Refreshments will be served!

Make and design your own buttons! All materials are provided, but if you want to you can bring your own pictures, magazines, or comics from home.
