Cruisers and yellow tape were outside of a Yarrow home Thursday as police delve into the death of a woman.

hilliwack Mounties were called to a sprawling, upscale home in the 42000-block of Yarrow Central overnight Wednesday after receiving a request to check on the well-being of a woman living at that location. The officer attending the scene located the woman who was deceased.

"The area surrounding the scene will be cordoned off for a significant amount of time," said Sergeant D.L. Postnikoff, UFVRD in a dispatch Thursday afternoon. "The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) has been called and will be working in partnership with the Chilliwack RCMP General Duty and Serious Crimes Unit."

The beautiful house, surrounded with tall, manicured cedar hedges was behind yellow tape all morning and afternoon Thursday with an officer stationed at the foot of the driveway.

At one point, investigators were seen at a car parked in front.

Police reassured the neighbours there was no danger to them.

"There is no evidence to indicate the public is at risk as a result of this incident," said Postnikioff.
