Envision to offer deserving post-secondary students cash

By Jason Brown, First West CU

nvision Financial continues to demonstrate its commitment to making a meaningful difference in its communities by offering $27,000 in education awards in 2015. For the 19th consecutive year, Envision Financial is encouraging secondary and post-secondary students throughout British Columbia to apply for one of its many education awards.

Eleven education awards of $2,000 each will be presented to qualifying secondary and post-secondary students throughout the province who demonstrate outstanding school and community involvement. The competition is open to students who are members of Envision Financial or the dependent of an Envision Financial member, in good standing prior to July 1, 2014.

“At Envision Financial, we recognize the importance of continuing education and we know that for many young people, attending post-secondary school can be a pipe dream because of high tuition fees,” says Susan Byrom, senior manager of community investment at Envision Financial. “That’s why Envision Financial is proud to offer education awards to deserving secondary and post-secondary students who are committed to academic excellence and community leadership. It’s just one way we’re helping students realize their potential while encouraging them to strive for excellence both in their schooling and as global citizens in our local communities.”

Additionally, in recognition of Envision Financial’s innovative community program, The Full Cupboard, two more education awards of $2,500 each will be offered to secondary and post-secondary students who volunteer with their local food bank. These two awards are open to students who have demonstrated outstanding community volunteerism with their local food bank in communities where Envision Financial operates. Applicants do not need to be a member of Envision Financial to qualify.

These award applications and full qualifying criteria can be picked up at any Envision Financial branch or downloaded online here. All submissions are due by 5 p.m. on Tuesday, March 31, 2015, and award recipients will be notified in early May.

Since 1996, Envision Financial has disbursed more than $530,000 in funding for high-school and post-secondary students across British Columbia.
