Hell to Happy Hour

Jail for British Columbians, while a few miles away is a burgeoning pot-conomy

Released by Dana Larsen, Director Sensible BC

hings are not looking good in the battle to end (pot) prohibition. Harper's Conservatives have recently crept up in most recent public opinion polls, making him the favourite to win the next election.

We know many Sensible BC supporters are Conservatives, and that's great. We welcome and encourage a variety of voices in our movement because it makes us stronger. The problem is that the Conservatives current leadership poses the largest threat to seeing real change here in Canada.

We know the Harper and the Conservative leadership are not big fans of our ideas or our movement. Recent attacks on medical marijuana users and the introduction of mandatory minimum sentences are ample evidence of that.

The real question is what damage will they do with another majority mandate?

The good news is that more than two thirds of Canadians (and nearly three quarters of British Columbians) are on our side and this is still a democracy.

Our plan is simple, but the execution will be difficult. We need to make cannabis reform an issue in the next election and defeat prohibitionist candidates all across BC.

In order for us to do that, we need to start building up capacity and getting our teams organized. As a first step, we'll be hosting plenty of campaign orientations in the coming weeks with the first event coming up this Saturday in Vancouver.

We also need to branch out of the lower mainland and reach people all across the province. To help make that happen, we're asking everyone to pitch in $25 before the end of the month.

The people of BC deserve Members of Parliament who will be brave, and take a stand against the failure of prohibition.

This is going to be our biggest undertaking yet, and we'll need all of the help we can get to keep marijuana policy in the minds of British Columbians.

As the noise of the upcoming election gets louder, we need to be more visible than ever. Please click here to make a $25 donation today.

Thanks for everything that you do, and I hope to hear from you soon!

P.S. - Can you help us out in the long run? If you can, please click here to make a monthly donation to Sensible BC. If you are already doing one, thank you so much.
