ental Silence Meditation at Sardis Library:  Mondays, Jan 5th April 27th, 7:00-8:00pm

 

Mental silence is the experience of inner silence which brings a peaceful and clearer awareness. It is easy to learn, and with the guidance of Sergiy Fadyeyev, can generate significant results quickly. Mental Silence can reduce stress and have a profound balancing effect on physical, mental and emotional dimensions of the students, enhancing both resilience and total well being.

 

Book Clubs

Chilliwack Library Evening Book Club: Wednesday, Feb 25th, 7:00-8:30pm.

 

Meet fellow book lovers and discuss a selected title. Call or visit the library to learn which book is being discussed this month. Copies of the current month's book are available at the library.

 

 

Teen Advisory Group

Chilliwack Library, Thursday, Feb 19th, 6:00pm-8:00pm

Are you a teen? Join the Chilliwack Libraries Teen Advisory Group (TAG). Be a library ambassador and help organize, run and promote teen library programs. There is lots of snacks and fun to be had. Volunteer hours are granted for all TAG activities. Apply at any of the Chilliwack Libraries, new members welcome!

Visit one of the Chilliwack Libraries' eHelp Desks for one-on-one help with downloading digital content (eBooks, audiobooks, and magazines) and accessing databases via the FVRL's website.

Are you an adult trying to improve your spoken English? Would you like to meet new friends in the community? Chilliwack Libraries, in partnership with Chilliwack Learning Society, host free, drop-in Conversations Circles.

 

 

Quilting Group

Sardis Library, Wednesdays, Jan 7th - Apr 29th, 10:00am-4:30pm

Bring your quilting projects, sewing machine and hand work and join the Sardis Library Quilting Group for a day of quilting in the comforts of the library. This group meets weekly to quilt and socialize. Please note that this is a non-instructional drop-in group. Space is limited so please bring hand work in case the tables are occupied. Don't forget to bring your lunch and coffee mug!

 

 

Stitch Together

Bring your projects or kits and head to the library to join our new needlework group! Regardless of your level, we invite you to come together and share your love of needle arts with other needlework enthusiasts. Whether you love cross-stitch, embroidery or other types of needle art, come work on your project with others who share the same passion. Bring your projects, additional lighting, and your enthusiasm.

 

 

Boomers and Beyond

Are you new to the community or newly retired? Are you a 60+ adult looking to connect with others in our community? Drop in and participate in our monthly library social. There will be coffee and treats, as well as great conversation and games! Guest speakers will be on hand from 2:30 to3 p.m. to talk about various resources for seniors and caregivers.

 

 

Sardis Library Unplugged

Love LEGO? We provide the LEGO, you bring your imagination! Come play, create, and experiment. LEGO Club is a fun after school program for kids ages 7 to 12. Sign up for the day at the information desk. Each session is limited to 15 attendees so arrive early to avoid disappointment!

Introduce kids to the love of books and language with Storytime! Children and caregivers will enjoy interactive stories, songs, rhymes, and more. Storytime prepares children to learn to read.

 

 

Pyjama Storytime

Sardis Library, Thursday, Feb 26th, 6:45pm-7:15pm

Tuck into a story! Children and caregivers will be entertained with stories, songs, rhymes, and more. Kids are encouraged to wear their pyjamas and bring their favourite stuffie. Storytime prepares children to learn to read.

 

 

Sardis Digital Clickers

What's a Midwife?

Did you know that Registered Midwives in BC are primary health care providers and their services are fully covered by your BC medical care card? Join Cheryl Mount, a Registered Midwife with 20 years experience and owner of Chilliwack Midwifery, as she explains the role of a midwife during pregnancy, labor and postpartum care. If you're curious about what a midwife is or does, this is the session for you!

Toddler Meetup

Chilliwack Library, Thursdays, Mar 5th - Thursday, Mar 26th, 10:30am-11:30am

Do you and your toddler need a morning out? Join our weekly toddler meetup! There is space for the toddlers to play and the parents to converse. Each session begins with storytelling by a librarian. For ages 18 months to 3 years, however younger siblings are welcome to tag along.

 

 

Heart of a Hoofbeat, Author Margaret Evans

Yarrow Library, Saturday, Mar 7th, 1:00pm-2:00pm

Author of Heart of a Hoofbeat, Margaret Evans, will take you on a journey that begins 35,000 years ago in southern France to tell the fascinating story of the evolution of the horse. Margaret has been observing and studying horses for 30 years.
