Write for Reading

CLCS looks for volunteers, Auffray to speak at workshop Feb 28

By Debbie Denault, CLCS

he Chilliwack Learning Society is pleased to present a workshop for interested community members, current volunteers, and people who may have an interest in volunteering with the Society.

The workshop is called "What is Literacy?" and we are pleased to welcome Pamela Auffray as facilitator.

The purpose of this workshop is to explore together our understanding of the word literacy. What does it mean to be literate? or Illiterate? How does the media define these terms? How do you personally define them? How do our definitions influence the work we do in community?

Attending this workshop will give you the opportunity to participate in motivating and creative discussions about why literacy continues to be vital for all and a chance to develop your own personal statement about literacy.

It will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Saturday Feb. 28, 2015. There is no cost to attend.

Please register by sending an email to Debbie here.

Registrants will be provided with workshop location details.
