No sweet deals for man wielding Taser on Valentine's Day

A Chilliwack RCMP officer speaks with a store detective while investigating an attempted theft by an armed suspect from Canadian Tire on Valentine's Day.


hen you think of an armed criminal, you think of gun, knife, baseball bat, even pepper spray. But you don't think of Taser. Most of us don't even know what one looks like.


On Valentine's Day, a Native man tried to walk out of Canadian Tire with a bag of stolen items around 9 p.m..


A Loss Protection Officer (LPO) inside the store tried to stop the man and he pulled out a Taser, conducted electrical weapon. threatening to zap the LPO.


The shoplifting suspect ran from the store and then behind north down the tracks toward the highway. He was last seen wearing a white hoodie.
