Exchange set for March 21

e are hosting our annual Seed Exchange on Friday March 21st at 7:00 pm at Harrison Mills Community Hall, 1995 School Road, Harrison Mills. Special guest Tatiana Kouchnareva will be our featured presenter. Please mark your calendars.

 

About Tatiana

Tatiana Kouchnareva has a Ph.D. degree in Physics and Mathematics, and has a successful  professional career in software industry, but her real passion is the preservation of heritage vegetable varieties, with special focus on tomatoes and peppers. Since 2005, Tatiana and her husband Stan maintain a private Seed bank which by now has more than 3,500 varieties of tomatoes, over 350 varieties of peppers, and over 300 varieties of  squashes, melons, and lettuces, collected from all over the world.

 

Tatiana's family has been growing seeds for the Seed bank, and offering seeds to the gardening community since 2007. Tatiana created an extensive online database (Tatiana's TOMATObase) that provides descriptions, photographs, and histories for more than 5,000 named vegetable varieties. Tatiana  and her family came to Canada from Russia in 1997 and they now live in Anmore, BC.
