Boozing driver facing numerous charges after vehicle leaves road, slams into power pole

RCMP and First Responders pick up the pieces after drunken accident Sunday.


n Sunday February 16 at 5:50 a.m., RCMP Fraser Valley Traffic Services responded to a motor vehicle collision on Young Road in Chilliwack when a single vehicle had struck a BC Hydro power pole.

 

A 19-year-old Chilliwack man was operating a motor vehicle when he lost control of the vehicle colliding with a BC Hydro power pole near Olds Drive. 

The vehicle came to rest in some bushes a short distance away and the Hydro pole was heavily damaged. Police investigation determined that vehicle speed and liquor consumption were contributing factors in this collision.

The driver of the vehicle was uninjured and was issued a 90-day Immediate Roadside Prohibition, a violation ticket for Excessive Speed, Failing to Stop at a Stop Sign, and Driving Contrary to Driver Restrictions under the authority of the Motor Vehicle Act.
