A full moon sets the tone for romance on Valentine's Day

full moon in February is generally referred to as a Snow Moon. The term is especially fitting in the east where they've had their share of snow this winter.

 

Environment Canada issued a high wind alert for overnight Friday, Saturday and into Sunday with gusts expected from 50-70 km/h. The around 30 km/h after midnight Saturday. Chilliwack should also see 15-25 mm of rain roll in with the wind.

Environment Canada Special weather statement for Fraser Valley - east including Chilliwack

Potentially damaging winds expected on Saturday.

A series of Pacific storms will cross the coast on the weekend. Potentially damaging winds will accompany these storms.

Southeast winds from 70 to 100 km/h will develop on the North Coast Saturday morning then spread to the South Coast late Saturday afternoon with the first storm. Westerly winds from 60 to 80 km/h will develop behind the storm Saturday evening. Lower speed west winds may cause as much or more damage than higher speed southeast winds. Strong west winds will ease by early Sunday morning.

Wind warnings have been issued for Haida Gwaii, Central Coast, North West and East Vancouver Island, Sunshine Coast, Victoria, southern gulf island, Victoria and Metro Vancouver.

A second storm will cross the South Coast Sunday night with very strong winds.

The public is advised to monitor future forecasts and warnings as warnings may be required or extended.
