A Police Dog Services canine is walked into Safeway on Tuesday looking for an explosive device.

afeway employees stood shivering outside Chilliwack Mall after being evacuated from the store Tuesday at around 11:30 a.m. when an alleged bomb threat was made.

Speaking with staff outside, Brent March, store manager, said that he called police when the threatening call came in.

"I didn't know what to do, so I called 9-1-1," he said. "It was one of three in BC."

RCMP Police Dog Services brought in a bomb-sniffing canine to take a run through the store. Nothing was found and the mall returned to normal operations shortly after 1 p.m.

Chilliwack RCMP spokesperson, Cst. Ashley St. Germaine, could not confirm it was an actual bomb scare, or if threats were made at any other stores in BC.
