White Rock and Vancouver musicians short-listed to CCMA showdown Sept 5-8

iriusXM Canada, the country’s leading audio entertainment company, is calling on Canadians to help choose Canada’s next big country music star for the second annual SiriusXM Top of the Country competition in partnership with the Canadian Country Music Association® (CCMA). The fate of the eight semi-finalists is in the public’s hands, with the popular vote determining which three artists move on to perform at the biggest country music events in Canada, attend songwriting trips, and have a shot at the $25,000 grand prize.



From now until May 17, country fans can watch all studio sessions and vote for their favourite performers once daily to see who makes it to the finals. siriusxm.ca/topcountry 

Kristin Carter is a choir girl turned country troubadour, high-energy stage presence and dynamic vocals can move, excite, and empower an audience at any given moment. Drawn to choir at age 5, Kristin Carter used the timeless vocal practice to train her voice for over 15 years until –after a university education took her to Halifax and back –she found inspiration for writing country songs on her daily Vancouver commute. In 2016, she turned her full creative attention to the genre and recorded a series of YouTube videos that garnered over 75,000 views. 


Sons of Daughters are a modern, gritty, country duo comprised of Chrystal Leigh and Jimmy Thow, hailing from Vancouver, BC, and now based in Nashville, Tennessee. They have collaborated with numerous Grammy-nominated, hit songwriters and landed a US tour with acclaimed indie rock acoustic folk group, Birdtalker, and played gigs at large-scale festivals such as CMA-fest and Boots & Hearts.
