Talented performer to play The Dub June 18

Jennifer Hickey, CCAC

he Chilliwack Community Arts Council and G.W. Graham Middle Secondary School present the one-and-only Charlotte Diamond live in concert on Saturday, June 18 as part of their newly-formed children’s concert series. This must-see, interactive concert will be held at 2:00 p.m. at the GWG Theatre (45955 Thomas Rd).

Born and raised in Vancouver, BC, Charlotte Diamond began her career teaching secondary school in the Lower Mainland. Inspired by her passion for music and children of her own, Diamond began to sing and write songs for young audiences in mind. As the popularity of her family shows, workshops and school concerts grew, Diamond, accompanied by her Hug Bug Band, quickly established herself as a childhood favourite for generations of young music lovers. She is now an established and frequent headliner for events such as the Vancouver International Children’s Festival, and often accompanied by her son, Matt Diamond, as they debut charming songs from their new album, “Diamonds by the Sea.”

With classics such as “Four Hugs a Day,” “I am a Pizza,” “Octopus (Slippery Fish)” and “La Bamba,” Charlotte Diamond specializes in catchy rhythms and whimsical lyrics encouraging care for others and an appreciation of all cultures. While Charlotte’s concerts are tailored for youth, parents will be captivated by her music as well.

“So many people have grown up with Charlotte and have fond memories of her songs,” remarks Patti Lawn, Executive Director of the Chilliwack Community Arts Council, “This concert is great for parents who want to share her iconic music with their own children.”

The Chilliwack Community Arts Council and G.W. Graham Middle Secondary School Theatre invite students to delight in Charlotte Diamond’s signature upbeat musical style on June 18 at 2:00 p.m. All proceeds support the arts and education initiatives of the Chilliwack Community Arts Council and G.W. Graham Middle Secondary School. Tickets are $10 each and can be purchased online by visiting, in-person at the Art Room (20-5725 Vedder Rd.) or at the door of GWG Theatre on June 18.
