or the past year Head Coach Quinter has been working with the Seattle Seahawks in an attempt to bring Head Coach Pete Carroll and Associate Head Coach Rocky Seto to BC to present their Hawk Tackling Program for the first time.
This new method of rugby style tackling was developed to reduce the number of occurrences, and the severity of concussions and related injuries.
Not only did the new practices reduce head traumas, it also turned the Hawks into one of the best tackling teams in the National Football League. The program came into being when they were both at the University of Southern California. They have continued their teaching method with the Seahawks and have also made presentations at high schools, colleges and with coaches and amateur football associations across the country.
They are finally coming to BC!
Head Coach Quinter made the announcement last night. “The Valley Huskers, in partnership with the Seattle Seahawks, are proud to bring Rocky Seto and Pete Carroll to Chilliwack to present their Hawk Tackling Program on May 14th.
Because of the outpouring of requests to attend the Seattle Seahawks “Hawk Tackling Clinic” on May 14th at 6:30pm to 8:30pm, the location has had to be changed to accommodate everyone. Because of the number of requests from down the valley a more central location was needed. Fortunately Trinity Western University had adequate and available space so the event will take place there. The times and dates are still the same. Don’t forget this is a free clinic but pre-registration is required. For more info and registration go to www.valleyhuskers.org
This event will take place as part of the Valley Huskers Spring Camp” he announced. “It will run from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm and there will be ample time left for Q and A’s. We encourage coaches and parents to come out and see for yourself why this system has been so successful in reducing concussions and head injuries,” he concluded.
This opportunity is being offered by the Huskers to all parents, trainers and coaches free of charge on a first come basis.
Because of limited space, registration is required. For more information and registration please visit our website: www.valleyhuskers.org
