Funeral for a Friend 

Mounties mourn Cst Sarah Beckett April 12

he public is invited to join the family of Constable Sarah Beckett and law enforcement as they celebrate her service and mourn her death during an RCMP Regimental Funeral, on Tuesday, April 12.

There will be a procession of uniformed law enforcement starting at approximately 1 pm on the Island Highway and Wilfert Road in Colwood (Greater Victoria), marching to the Q Centre. Roads will be closed for the march from approximately 12 pm. Funeral services will begin at 2 p.m.

Funeral services will take place at the Q Centre. While there are designated seats for the public at the Q Centre, it is anticipated these will be filled quickly. All those planning to attend Q Centre will need to be seated by 12:45 p.m.

Therefore the primary public viewing location for the Services will be at Westhills Stadium, at 1089 Langford Parkway, Langford, BC. The public is asked to be seated at this venue by 1:45 p.m. The RCMP thanks the public for their patience and cooperation in regard to these arrangements.

Beckett’s family, and the RCMP, I want to express how touched we have been by the support we’ve received, and the countless thoughtful notes, emails and gestures, says Chief Superintendent Ray Bernoties, head of the RCMP on Vancouver Island. We have listened to and read messages of appreciation and words of shared grief from the public, law enforcement and emergency service provider partners as well as municipal partners and local businesses. We are humbled by such an outpouring of support.
