Ryder Lake News

Cleanliness Next to Godliness

Volunteers needed for roadside cleanup April 24

Submitted by Peter Whitlock, RLFI

he City of Chilliwack has designated the whole month of April for the annual Pitch-In Program. The Ryder Lake event will be April 24 at 10 a.m. meeting at the Ryder Lake sign on Elk Viewórain or sunshine.

Our route will be to clean the road  verges on Elk View from the 3 way Stop sign at Ryder Lake Rd down to Bailey plus Ryder Lake Rd to Extrom - and Ross Rd.

If you wish to do a section of road closer to where you live that is fine too. But if you do this before the event on April 24 please put your bags in the trailer in front our barn. This will ensure your weights are included in the Ryder Lake Farmers' Institute totals. The city pays organizations like ours $100 for this.

If you do some clean-up after the 24th,  pick-up on the pass for the dump from us and this will allow you to take the bags to the dump without cost.

I will arrange with the city for the bags and the signs. We have our own orange vests.

With 8 to 10 volunteers this normally takes 1 to 1Ĺ hours. Bring gloves and something to drink.

Always a great community-supported event.
