Prest Rollover

Accident sends new driver to hospital

A witness explains what happened as paramedics and first responders load an injured driver into a waiting ambulance.


CMP temporarily closed Prest Rd. at Chilliwack Central  just after 1 p.m. on Thursday after a single-vehicle rollover there.


The accident caused the driver to remain trapped inside until Chilliwack first responders and BCAS paramedics could extract and stabilize the young man before taking him to Chilliwack General with undetermined injuries.


There were no passengers in the late model sedan.


Roads were relatively dry at the time. It's unclear how the accident happened, or if the vehicle, which had a new driver decal on the back, was t-boned at the four-way stop, but it slid off the road coming to rest on its roof in the shallow ditch adjacent to Prest Rd.
