Chilliwack Cultch to get $20K over 2 years for performances

n behalf of the Minister of Canadian Heritage and Official Languages, the Honourable Shelly Glover, Chilliwack-Fraser Canyon MP Mark Strahl announced multi-year funding of $20,000 for the Chilliwack Arts and Cultural Centre Society.

Now entering its fourth year of programming, the Chilliwack Cultural Centre has proven to be a go-to arts hub for residents in the Fraser Valley. I am looking forward to seeing what’s in store for the upcoming presentation series,” said Strahl.

The funding will support the Chilliwack Cultural Centre's 2014 and 2015 performing arts series. From September 2014 to April 2015, the Centre will present 30 diverse performances. It will receive $10,000 in 2014–2015 and $10,000 in 2015–2016 through the Canada Arts Presentation Fund. 

“Our Government is pleased to partner with the Chilliwack Cultural Centre, located in the heart of British Columbia’s Fraser Valley. Support for the performing arts is essential for the professional growth and development of our Canadian artists.” said  Hon. Shelly Glover, Minister of Canadian Heritage and Official Languages.

The Chilliwack Arts and Cultural Centre Society manages the Centre on behalf of the City of Chilliwack. Opened to the public in September 2010, the Centre features an art gallery, a main theatre, a 150-seat black box studio theatre, music instruction rooms, arts and crafts studios, meeting rooms, and other amenities to serve the local community. It is the primary arts presenter in Chilliwack.
