CADREB celebrates 50th anniversary, new president anticipates busy year for realtors

Released by Steve Lerigny, CADREB

n his first full month as President of the Chilliwack & District Real Estate Board (CADREB) Jake Siemens, Managing Broker of Landmark Realty Chilliwack, has seen a strong start, with positive signs on the horizon for the second quarter.

There were 183 completed sales in March, compared to 168 for the same month last year. Total dollar value reached over $56 million. So far this year, volume and sales are outpacing last year’s by 9 percent.

Just back from a Canadian Real Estate Association (CREA) national convention in Ottawa, Mr. Siemens said that while Chilliwack and Area has enjoyed a stable market for some time, Canada in general is waiting on measurable job growth before any significant housing activity can occur.

“Chilliwack and Area will continue at the current steady pace, with strong indicators that the second quarter of this year will perhaps bring some increased activity. On average, listings are taking about 80-90 days to sell, with some exceptions of course”.

Of the 183 sales last month, the highest number sold (30) were in the $400,000 - $499,999 range, followed by 28 sales in the $300,000-$349,999 range and 27 in the $350,000-$399,999 range – representing a strong showing in the single family detached category.

Mr. Siemens looks forward to working with the Board of Directors of CADREB in the coming months, including four brand new directors.

It will be a busy year for the Board, as this fall marks CADREB’s 50-year anniversary, and there are a number of plans for celebrating it.

“Real Estate is an ever-evolving industry,” Added Mr. Siemens.  “It is important to stay on top of the changes to best serve our many REALTORS®, and their clients”.
