Blaze at Hop Farm

Workshop burned, crews stop fire from spreading

n September 12th, 2017, at around 6:45am the Chilliwack Fire Department was dispatched to a reported commercial structure fire in the 6000-block of Unsworth Rd.

Firefighters responded from Halls 1, 3, 4 and 6 and upon-arrival, discovered a large workshop at a hop farm operation fully-involved in fire.

Fire crews established a water supply and implemented a defensive attack on the workshop. The workshop suffered heavy fire damage; however crews were able to protect some nearby harvesting equipment from being damaged by the fire.

The cause of the fire is currently unknown and is under investigation by fire department officials.

There were no civilian or firefighter injuries reported.
